| Left - Eastbound - out of Fair Grounds to Route 37 (At Rising Sun Park). | |
| Right - Eastbound - on 37 (Route 37 makes a left turn at Main Street) to Route 60 in McConnelsville | |
| Right - Southbound on 60 to Marietta | In McConnelsville, about half a mile after you turn onto Route 60, there is a great old iron bridge to your right which goes back across the Muskingum River. Marietta will be your last chance to stop for food or something to drink for quite a while. |
| Left - Northeast - on Route 26 When Route 60 joins Route 7 in Marietta, stay in the left lane. There is only one small sign indicating Route 26. If you come to I-77 you missed it. |
Just after you get out of town you go down a fairly steep hill with a left turn at the bottom. There is a Scenic Byway - Covered Bridge Route - sign on the left. Turn right here and less than half a mile will bring you to an attractive covered bridge. There is a small park and campground just past where you should turn. There are two more covered bridges visible from Route 26 as you continue Northeast. One still carries traffic. Another covered bridge is about a quarter mile by gravel road to your right. Trees will probably hide the bridge but there is a sign on Route 26. This is a long bridge and may be the most interesting of the four, but it is in poor shape. |
| Continue on 26 to Route 800. Left - Northbound - on 800 to Route 78 Left - Eastbound - on 78 to McConnelsville. |
From here there are two options. If you're tired, you can follow Route 37 and reverse the route you took to McConnelsville or you can continue on 78 into Glouster and then take Route 13 North back to Route 37. This will add about 20 miles. Route 78 from McConnelsville to Glouster is one of the best motorcycle roads in the state and 13 north from Glouster is not bad. Watch for a speed trap in Glouster; they need the money.
